How StockSense RFID Works
From physical tag to automated payment — a deep dive into the platform's architecture and workflow.
RFID Item Tagging
Every product in the store receives a unique RFID label — applied at the distribution center, vendor, or in-store. Each tag contains a globally unique identifier (EPC), product category, SKU, and batch metadata.
- UHF RFID tags operate at 860–960 MHz
- Supports GS1 EPC standard for global interoperability
- Tags read from up to 10 meters without line-of-sight
- Bulk reads of 1,000+ items per second
Each tag holds a unique EPC code tied to a specific item — not just a product type. Two identical shirts get different tag IDs.
Overhead, Shelf & Exit Gate Detection
Three layers of reader infrastructure create complete visibility across the entire store.
Overhead Readers
Mounted to ceilings, overhead RFID antennas cover broad zones — tracking item movement across aisles and sections.
Smart Shelf Readers
Embedded in shelf edges, smart antennas detect individual item pickups and putbacks at the product level.
Exit Gate Readers
High-accuracy tunnel readers at store exits capture every item passing through — triggering checkout or alert workflows.

Product Movement Logic
As each tagged item moves through the store, the StockSense engine tracks its state in real time. The platform distinguishes between browsing behavior, basket additions, returns, and final exits.
- State transitions logged with millisecond timestamps
- Customer session stitching across all store zones
- Anomaly detection for high-risk item categories
- Full audit log retained for compliance and analytics
Inventory Update Engine
Every item movement is reflected in the inventory ledger instantly — no batch jobs, no delays.
Live Inventory Ledger
Every pick-up, return, and exit updates the central inventory in real time across all connected systems.
POS / ERP Integration
Native connectors for major POS, ERP, and WMS platforms. Inventory synced to all downstream systems automatically.
Analytics Dashboard
Visual dashboards showing stock levels, movement patterns, dwell times, shrinkage reports, and conversion metrics.
Smart Replenishment Alerts
Automatic alerts when stock falls below threshold. Trigger replenishment orders before shelves go empty.
Auto-Charge & Loss Alert Workflow
The final layer: connecting item-exit events to payment or security response — in under one second.
Auto-Charge Workflow
Customer's registered payment method is charged automatically as they pass the exit gate. Receipt sent to their device. No queues, no cashiers, no friction.
Silent Loss Alert
If items exit without a matched payment, a silent alert is sent to staff devices and security systems — logged with full item detail and timestamp for review.
